 CHRISTMAS CITY EXPRESS
DETAILS:
The festive Christmas City Express program at the Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village is a great opportunity to enjoy the spirit of the season with your family and friends while supporting the restoration of one of York County's cultural gems. A devastating flood in late August left the historic village of Muddy Creek Forks filled with mud and debris and the north end of the rail line temporarily inoperable. Volunteers have worked tirelessly this fall to recover and ready the Village and railroad for a memorable Christmas Season. Proceeds from this year's Christmas City Express will help to rebuild areas of track destroyed by the flood. The story of the Christmas City Express takes place on Christmas Eve nearly a hundred years ago. It recounts the overnight trip of a young girl on her way to her grandparents’ home, aboard a train that gets stranded in a blizzard. Guests will experience the story of the young girl and the train crew who saved Christmas for everyone aboard. After the story, and a visit with Santa, guests will board a motorcar train at the station platform for a ride through the Muddy Creek Valley. A special feature of this year's Christmas City Express program will be an expanded running display of antique Lionel standard gauge trains. There will also be an opportunity to buy unique gifts for children and the railfans you care about. The Christmas City Express will run on Saturday and Sunday for the first three weekends in December. Saturday programs on December 1, 8, and 15 are at 5:00 and 7:00 PM. Sunday programs on December 2, 9, and 16 occur at 2:30 and 5:00 PM. Tickets, at $18 for adults and $15 for children 3-12, include a Christmas City Express performance, a motorcar train ride, a snowflake ornament, family activities and crafts, caroling, and cookies and hot chocolate. Because train capacity is limited, advance ticket purchase is required. Tickets can be secured by visiting www.MaAndPaRailroad.com
