Comments/Directions:
The “Katy” depot was returned to downtown Wagoner in 2020 onto a lot at W. Cherokee and N. Smith Street, which is near to its original location along Railroad Street. The completion of the depot in 1896 allowed Wagoner to become the first city incorporated in Indian Territory (also in 1896). Previously, it had been moved north of town in 1988 and remodeled into a Restaurant. Recently, it was deeded back to the city to be developed as a community center in a city park, which will require extensive development and extensive refurbishing of the depot. Of interest, about 1/4 mile south is the diamond junction of the MKT and Kansas & Arkansas Valley (K&AV) railroads – both currently UP.
