Comments/Directions: The Belton Depot was built in 1910 by the Great Northern Railroad to serve the newly formed Glacier National Park. The railroad also built the historic Belton Chalets hotel (now across the highway) to serve its passengers and visitor to the park. Until the 1930's visitors to the park mainly arrived by train. The depot continues to serve as an Amtrak depot in season but also serves as headquarters to the Glacier Natural History Association. |
