Comments/Directions: The East Glacier Park depot was built by the Great Northern Railway (GN) in 1913. Directly behind the station is the popular Glacier Park Lodge, one of the half-dozen lodges constructed by the GN at the turn of the century to foster tourism to Glacier National Park. Both the station and the lodge share the same architectural style. The station is constructed of wood siding with large log pillars accenting both the front and the track side of the building. Classic station wagons known as "jammers" transport passengers to and from the lodge. |
