RAILROAD DEPOT

Comments/Directions: "The La Plata Depot was original built in 1887. The depot was in need of replacement during World War II but due to the shortage of material it was not replaced. In 1945 part of the depot was damaged was damaged by a fire and it was at that time rebuilt in an Art Deco style. Following this rebuilt the depot deteriorated over the years until 1996 when a volunteer group began restoring the exterior. This exterior work was completed in 2001. The interior has since been restored. The station is now used as an Amtrak station."
