Scenic 15 mile train ride into the beautiful Des Moines River valley, on historic route of the former FORT DODGE, DES MOINES & SOUTHERN LINE. Two STEAM TRAIN trips a day, Saturdays Memorial Day weekend through October, behind Chinese JS class 2-8-2 steam locomotive. Restored 1920's passenger cars. DIESEL TRAIN one trip weekdays and Sundays. Also, first-class extra fare DESSERT TRAIN offers a two and one half hour rountrip ride, in air-conditioned CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO Pullman lounge car with lounge section, roomettes, observation platform, free refreshments. Also "City of Los Angeles" dining car. (Reservations Recommended) Picnic Train runs Sundays at 12:30 p.m. Memorial Day weekend through the end of October. $22 for adults and $10 for children 3-12. Dinner Train runs April through the the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving. Vintage style depot houses gift shop, snack bar, and museum with free exhibits of rail history. FARES AND SCHEDULES: *STEAM TRAIN: $16 adult, $5 children 5-12. Runs Saturdays Memorial Day Weekend through October at 1:30, and 4PM . *DIESEL TRAIN: $16 adult, $5 children. One weekday trip Memorial Day Weekend through October at 1:30 and two trips Sundays at 1:30 and 4. "DESSERT TRAIN: $28 all seats. One trip a day at 12:30 Saturdays only Memorial Day weekend through October. Dinner Train runs Saturday evenings April through the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving. Also Friday evenings June through October. All seats $55. Reservations necessary. *TROLLEY RIDE: $2 over 12yrs. 9-5 all day weekends. The railroad is open Saturdays in May and daily Memorial Day weekend through October. The depot museum and gift shop are open 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday in the off season.
