The museum contains a large variety of NYC related memorabilia. Across the tracks is the old NYC station, which is still used by Amtrak. The beginnings of Norfolk Southern's Elkhart Yard may also be seen from the station, as well as the branch between the Chicago-Toledo main and NYC's old grade to Toledo and Kalamazoo. The hours are 10-5 Tues-Sat, 10-5 Sun. Closed Mondays and major holidays. Admission $5.00 - $4.00 kids and seniors. Rail engines on display: a 1940 L3a Mohawk (4-8-2), a 1953 E-8 diesel electric, and a 1939 GG-1 electric. 35 pieces of rolling stock. Extensive running "O" gauge model train layout. Twenty two years of collected artifacts on rotating display. Movies,Pictures,Photos,China,operating Lights,Bells,Signals and tools are on display for you to enjoy. Trains load from depot moved from Craigville, Indiana. Depot built in 1879, moved 40 miles to present site. Coaches built in car shop on site on double-bogey flatcar frames from Poland. Owned and operated by the Byer Family since 1976.

Railroad museum housed in former Chicago Indianapolis & Louisville Railroad (MONON). The Linden Depot is the last surviving junction depot in Indiana. It was built in 1909 to serve the Nickel Plate Railroad which ran east and west from Toledo, OH to St. Louis, MO, and the Monon Railroad (formerly the CI&L Railroad) which ran north and south from Chicago, IL to Louisville, KY. The Depot closed in 1973, and re-opened as a Museum on April 13, 1993. Model railroad layouts operating, large supply of HO & N scale engines and cars for sale. 2 cabooses to walk through, a wooden MONON & bay window NKP.

Locomotive shop tours and "Engineer for an Hour" program using a 44-ton Davenport diesel. Locomotive 765 is the power for steam excrustions. As of 9/2006, the 765 repairs are complete, federal inspections have been passed, and she has recently moved under her own steam on the shop tracks. The society has hopes for excursions in 2007.

: ITM is open weekends only April through Memorial Day, 10am-5pm. From Memorial Day through October, we're open Tuesday-Sunday, same time. Admission to the museum is $3 for adults, $2 for kids (4-12) and includes a 1920's trolley ride. Diesel-powered 2-hour round trips depart the museum on Saturdays & Sundays, $7 for adults, $5 for kids, includes admission to museum and trolley ride. For a current schedule of events, send a #10 SASE to the above mailing address. ITM is home to the Nickel Plate 587 steam engine. Several online excursions are planned for the season. See one of the mid-west's few remaining active steam locomotives in action! The museum also is home to the #90 Henry Flagler private car, EMD F7's, Budd stainless coaches, and more!

Train rides utilizing cabooses, open-air cars, and a vintage commuter coach pulled by vintage diesel locomotives. Train rides are on Saturdays, May - October and special events. The museum is open year-round, Saturdays, 9am - 4pm, central time. There is a fee for train rides but the museum is always free.
C&O 2-8-4 is on display with several cabooses and many other freight cars and diesel locomotives in the museum's collection. The railroad museum has created a unique lineside display of railroad signals along its tracks, representing many different roads and types.

An 1/8th scale train based on a Baltimore and Ohio locomotive takes guests on a short excursion around Holidog's Funtown. The Freedom Train is located in the Fourth of July section and is the only ride remaining from Holiday World's opening season in 1946.

A 1/3 scale diesel engine is operated by the owner of the adjoining Amish style restaurant. The trackage includes a small bridge, a small "tunnel" and a view of the yard which has a diesel engine as well as a coal car that is used to spread gravel. The passenger cars, as well as the tunnel and bridge are not very realistic, so the main attraction here are the engines. There is also an antique tractor museum on the site. Also we are restoring the N&W wood caboose in Wakarusa, Indiana back to its original number and logo. "Wabash" was painted on it because the museum wanted a piece of equipment that reflected the major carrier through that area, and they already had an N&W coach so they wanted variety. Next year marks the 25th year the caboose has been at Waky, so we are cosmetically returning it to its proper scheme. The N&W coach will mark it's 20th year at the museum in August, hence the painting going on now.

The old Wabash Wakarusa station is part of the Wakarusa historical society complex. Station includes a few old pictures and other rail memorabilia, an old caboose (N&W 518193, as WAB 1917) and the "City of Wakarusa" passenger car. Open the fourth Sunday of the month from 2 PM to 4 PM from June through September, or by appointment.

The former Winona Railroad depot in Winona Lake is now home to Carpet Depot. The owner is a gracious host and showed me the history of the depot and some of the interior character left from the legacy of the depot. The building has been very nicely restored, updated and preserved to not only be home to the business but also show the building's history. Stop in if you are in need of carpet or interior design and have a cup of coffed in the coffee shop in the depot.
