IMAGES FROM GENOA
Just east of Limon is the town of Genoa on the old Rock Island line. I happened to catch a unique sight coming home Saturday after Thanksgiving. Three UP AC's lead a pipe unit train on the KYLE tracks!!! I often wondered how much traffic the line sees nowadays and was thrilled to see this.

I was heading west approaching Genoa when I saw lights on the rails up a head. The glare of the sun made it hard to see any details but I could tell the engines were shiny new. As they pulled into view I began to make out the eagle on the front and wondered what I was seeing.

Sure enough, three clean UP engines were leading a pipe train east on the KYLE.

How often does this happen? I was glad to see UP would run on the KYLE and glad to be here to catch a shot of it. This is looking east along I-70 about 1/2 mile east of Genoa.
